Ingredients:
  • (2 cups) whole wheat flour
  • (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • (2 tsp.) baking soda
  • (1 tsp.) salt
  • (2/3 cup) firmly packed brown sugar
  • (1/4 cup) molasses
  • (2 cups) buttermilk

Boston Brown Bread

Molasses adds a slight sweetness to this classic dark brown bread.

    Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x5 in. loaf pan with cooking spray and coat it with flour.
  2. 2Combine flours, baking soda and brown sugar in a large bowl. Add molasses and buttermilk, stir to combine. Pour into greased pan.
  3. 3Bake 1 hour, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool and serve.
